What Other Types of Credits Will UAGC Accept?

If you have not attended a traditional college or university, that’s OK! You may have other valuable experience that can turn into college credit, or you may be able to earn credits along the way, even while you’re taking UAGC courses.
  • Get credit for previous corporate training, continuing education units, prior school credits, or other non-traditional sources of previous learning that are not accepted through the registrar’s office evaluation. You can request to have them reviewed through Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) for credit. Undergraduate students who are approved to be CHAMPS mentors may also earn credits through the PLA program.

    Learn More

  • Part of PLA, the Experiential Learning Credit (ELC) workshop offers a convenient way to turn your experience into credit. Complete a self-paced series of five modules that show you how to write an experiential essay that aligns with learning outcomes of a course in your degree program. Your completed essay will be evaluated by a subject matter expert for credit.

  • UAGC recognizes that students learn a lot from boot camp, basic training, officer training school, and many other courses provided by the military. Upon enrollment, UAGC will request your Joint Services Transcript (JST) along with any other college transcripts on your behalf.

    Learn More

  • Several organizations offer courses that have been recommended for college credit by national credit recommendation services, like ACE (American Council on Education) and NCCRS (National College Credit Recommendation Service).

    Learn More

  • If you feel competent in a specific subject area, many organizations offer exams you can take for a fee. When you pass, you’ll earn college credit and have that course requirement met.

What Will You Bring?

Your experience is valuable, and we are committed to helping you achieve your goals by putting your previous credits to use. Let’s talk about where you’ve been and where you want to go.

We want you to bring your experience with you. Get familiar with the ways you can get closer to achieving your goals by using your college, work, and life experience.
