Graduation Ceremony FAQ's
The eligibility requirements for commencement participation are as follows:
Fall 2023 Virtual Ceremony: Grad date is between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2023 and did not attend the Spring Ceremony
Spring 2024 In-Person Ceremony: Grad date is between September 1, 2023 to August 31, 2024
If your grad date is not in the eligibility range, you will need to email [email protected] to inquire about an exception.
For In-Person Commencement, all participating graduates must have a University approved cap and gown purchased from our authorized vendor.
For Virtual Commencement, the cap and gown is optional.
If you are attending the commencement ceremony in-person, you will be provided any applicable honors regalia at check in (Latin honor stoles and honor society cords).
If you are not attending commencement, graduates are sent Latin honor stoles, only. Please email [email protected] after you have been placed in Graduate status (this is typically 1-2 weeks after your last class). Be sure to include your Student ID and a mailing address. For honor society regalia, please purchase directly from the honor society, if available.
Latin Academic Honors (Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, Summa Cum Laude) regalia are awarded to undergraduate students. All Masters students are held to a higher academic standard and are not eligible for University honors. Please note that the masters hood and gown are different from undergraduate regalia and indicate the distinction and honor as a Masters level graduate.
The petition to graduate form is not mandatory for undergraduate or Masters students to participate in a commencement. All doctoral students must submit the petition to graduate form to indicate participation as the doctoral form has different information requests.
