Transfer-friendly Policies for All Students
The University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC) is committed to helping students maximize their transfer credits* and get to graduation faster. That’s why we offer a variety of ways to earn college credit. Your job knowledge and life experience can transfer with you. See our catalog for graduate transfer policies.
Types of Non-traditional Credit You Can Use at UAGC
If you have previous corporate training, continuing education units, prior school credits, or other non-traditional sources of previous learning that are not accepted through the registrar’s office evaluation, you can request to have them reviewed through PLA. Students may earn credit through the PLA program in two ways: Sponsored Professional Training and the Experiential Essay method.
Part of PLA, the Experiential Learning Credit (ELC) Workshop offers a convenient way to turn your work/life experience into college credit. Complete a self-paced series of five modules that show you how to write an experiential essay that aligns with learning outcomes of a course at UAGC. Your completed essay will be evaluated by subject matter experts for college credit.
Students in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Global Campus may be eligible to receive up to 20 non-traditional elective credits through PLA for completing the NCLEX-RN® exam. Students should wait until all previous post-secondary coursework has been reviewed and then contact their Academic Advisor to determine if there is a need for the exam to be reviewed for college credit. To request the credit to be applied, students must complete the application for NCLEX-RN Exam Credit, provide a copy of their current RN license, write a 1- to 3-page essay, and submit all documents to [email protected].
If you feel competent in a specific subject area, many organizations offer exams you can take for a fee. When you pass, you’ll earn college credit and have that course requirement met.
Several organizations offer courses that have been recommended for college credit by national credit recommendation services, including ACE (American Council on Education) and NCCRS (National College Credit Recommendation Service).
UAGC has partnered with multiple organizations to provide you a path to fulfill general education prerequisites, electives, or even major courses by taking self-paced online courses. You can even take them at the same time as your UAGC courses and transfer them as they are successfully completed.
