The Dean’s List. It’s an accomplishment every determined UAGC student hopes to attain. Released twice a year for the spring and fall, it recognizes undergraduate students who earn a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher and who have completed 12 or more credits – including at least one course since the time the previous Dean’s List was published.

Biography

Renata C. Franklin never let outside opinions or obstacles get in the way of what she describes as a “burning desire” to pursue higher education.

“I wasn’t encouraged by anyone, but that nagging feeling stayed in the back of my mind and would not go away until I made a conscious decision to take school seriously,” she says.

The 12-year Army veteran explored several academic options before ultimately finding the right fit with Ashford University* in September 2015.

Initially, Renata says she wanted to prove to herself that she could do it.

Biography

Growing up, Avonlea Schemmer always loved learning and going to school. However, she found herself struggling with her studies more than any of her five siblings. She had been diagnosed with dyslexia in kindergarten, so learning to read didn’t come easily for her. Dyslexia is a chronic learning disability that makes it difficult to read, despite having average or above average intelligence.
