Growing up in a rural farming community, the only adults Dr. Stephanie Anderson knew with a college degree were her teachers and her doctor. An education beyond high school, she observed, was mostly earned in technical and trade schools. 

More than 25 years ago, John Felger set out to earn his degree at a traditional brick and mortar college. He didn’t finish but always vowed to someday complete his journey. Now in his 50s, John is back in school to earn his Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at the University of Arizona Global Campus, and for his effort, he is UAGC's January 2021 Student of the Month.

These are six words you might not expect to hear mouthed by a college professor. Yet, that’s exactly how the University of Arizona Global Campus Dr. Jackie Kyger describes himself before he discovered his passion for teaching and education. 

A funny thing happened when Miguel Alsop returned to college in 2016 to complete his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. 

“Shortly after I started, my supervisor told me to stop using such big words at work,” recalls our January 2021 Alum of the Month. “It made me laugh, and it made me proud. I didn’t realize my vocabulary was growing and changing so much.”
