Organizations are fluid and dynamic. They are social structures with individuals at their very core. Knowing an organizational dynamic is impossible without getting to know what type of behavioral traits, personality characteristics, and individual differences are involved. Managers are just one of the layers within the organizational structure. Organizations and industries are in continuous change cycles. Technological, economic, competitive, and government forces are just some of the forces that create trigger events that cause leaders to create developmental or transitional changes.

As another exciting baseball season nears its conclusion, we couldn’t help but notice that there are many lessons from baseball that easily translate to business success. During the game, managers display their leadership styles. Successful managers often are transparent, open,  authentic, and serve as positive role models who lead by example. We see how they connect, inspire, influence, motivate, and improve people’s performance. Their technical, conceptual, and interpersonal skills are evident.

As a student or professional, you may know the feeling of dread that leads up to due dates for important assignments or presentations. It can be an anxiety-inducing time that may lead you to ask yourself, “If I am not going to nail this presentation or get a 100% on this paper, what’s the point?” If this has ever crossed your mind, you may be experiencing imposter syndrome (also called imposter phenomenon by psychologists). 

“When you are at your weakest, you have to be at your strongest.” 

These wise words spoken by Dr. William Woods’ father have been a consistent reminder of how the lead faculty for the Master of Arts in the Organizational Management Program at the University of Arizona Global Campus should live his life and remain strong during some of his most challenging moments.

While telecommuting has existed for decades, the Coronavirus pandemic challenged organizations and employees to rethink their approach to remote work. Today, it has become the new norm for many organizations with one in five employees working from home. Although some organizations have since returned to their pre-pandemic routines and the number of job postings for full-time remote work are on a slight decline, it is clear the movement is no longer a temporary trend.

Having spent more than 25 years leading and mentoring athletes in sports of nearly every type, it’s safe to say that Dr. Tim Rice is a coach to his very core. 

When it comes to education, that passion for teaching and connecting with others has been fueled by one prevailing philosophy. 

“I believe every person has the innate ability to accomplish truly great things,” says Dr. Rice. “You just have to have a positive mindset to achieve it. “Can’t can’t exist.”

Throughout my career as an independent distributor, sales and marketing manager, director, executive, and still today as an educator, I value people and the networks I am a part of.

As I grew in my career, I worked to understand every situation, its context, and culture.
