What is the GEM Program?

The General Education Mobile (GEM) program provides an opportunity to complete CCAF general education requirements online at UAGC. Through GEM, eligible students can take online courses that may be transferred toward their Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) degree.

  • CCAF-Approved Courses: UAGC offers CCAF-approved general education courses, providing Airmen the opportunity to earn credits toward their CCAF degree.
Continuing Education

After completing your CCAF degree, speak with a UAGC advisor about continuing your education through the Air University Associate-to-Baccalaureate (AU-ABC) program. Eligible CCAF graduates may be able to transfer up to 60 semester hours toward a UAGC bachelor’s degree.

How Does GEM Work?
  1. Enroll: Select UAGC as your accredited GEM partner college. View available UAGC courses here.
  2. Choose Courses: Select the required general education courses (e.g., Oral/Written Communication, Mathematics, Humanities, and Social Science.)
  3. Study Online: Complete your studies while deployed with asynchronous online courses. If you can connect to the internet, you can be in a UAGC online classroom.
  4. Earn Credits: Complete courses to earn credit toward your CCAF degree.

  • No, your student status is considered to be “Non degree seeking” therefore an evaluated degree plan is not required by your Air Force Education office.

  • Yes, as long as you have internet connection and support of your chain of command.

  • Undergraduate GEM courses at UAGC are scheduled in 5-week terms.
