Veliota Drakopoulou, PhD
Dr. Veliota Drakopoulou is a Full Professor in the Forbes School of Business and Technology® at the University of Arizona Global Campus. She acquired a PhD in Applied Management and Decision Sciences with a concentration in Accounting from Walden University, a master of Business Administration in Management from the New York Institute of Technology, and a bachelor of Science in Business Management from State University of New York at New Paltz. Dr. Drakopoulou is a New York Stock Exchange equities day-trader. She has published in the areas of the effectiveness of fundamental and technical analysis on stock valuation, the corporate risk management strategies under SFAS 133, and the FVO of equity securities under SFAS 159.
Dr. Drakopoulou is a QM certified instructional designer, has published in several journals of accounting research and finance, and has served as an editorial board member for the Journal of Stock and Forex Trading and Accounting and Finance Research. She has earned textbook Review Acknowledgements for the Cengage Corporate Financial Accounting textbook and contributed book chapters to Accounting and Investment Opportunity book. Dr Drakopoulou has earned the Certificate of Distinguished Reviewer for the “Risk Governance and Control: Financial Markets & Institutions.”
Dr. Drakopoulou believes online education is more student-centered than traditional brick-and-mortar education. “As a facilitator of online courses rather than a lecturer, my role is to select and filter information for student consideration and facilitate thought-provoking discussions. I like sharing professional experiences and real-world examples to enhance students learning and prepare them for entering the business world.”
