ECE 332 Child Development

3 Credits

This course describes the stages of developmental growth from conception to early childhood. Students will evaluate theory and research that explains the development of young children. Students will describe how biological, environmental, protective, and adverse factors impact children’s development and learning. They will also analyze developmentally appropriate practices supporting growth and development in physical, cognitive, social and emotional, and linguistic domains. Finally, students will analyze how development and learning intersect across developmental domains.

BUS 307 Operations Management and Quantitative Techniques

3 Credits

Operations Management and Quantitative Techniques introduces students to the essential analytical methods used in modern business decision-making and operations. This course provides a practical survey of quantitative techniques commonly applied in business with a strong focus on developing operations management skills for real-world contexts. Students will explore foundational concepts of decision analysis and quantitative techniques while applying these tools to operational challenges. Emphasis is placed on building problem-solving skills, interpreting quantitative results, and applying data-driven insights to managerial decisions. Prerequisite: Fulfillment of Quantitative Reasoning Core Competency.

MGT 380 Leadership for Organizations

3 Credits

This course provides an in-depth exploration of leadership as a dynamic, ethical, and strategic practice within organizations. Students will analyze the principles of leadership across persons, processes, and systems. The course emphasizes ethical leadership, corporate social responsibility, and the development of high-performing organizational cultures. Students will examine theories of organizational behavior and followership, cultivate strategies for leading teams, and foster resilience through effective communication and persuasion techniques. Key topics include the strategic creation and implementation of leadership initiatives, the navigation of organizational power, politics, and conflict, and leading transformational change using evidence-based models. Special attention is given to cultivating openness, ethical influence, innovation, and adaptability in response to emerging technologies and global challenges. By the end of the course, students will be prepared to lead ethically and strategically across complex and evolving organizational landscapes.  Prerequisite: BUS 119 for the BA Business Leadership and BA Organizational Management programs.   

ECE 315 Language Development in Young Children

3 Credits

This course offers an examination of language development in children from birth to age eight, emphasizing the integration of research-based strategies to support early language and literacy skills. Special focus is placed on creating developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environments that nurture both typical and atypical language learners. Students will explore methods for supporting dual language learners and collaborate with diverse families to promote strong language foundations.

GRO 497 Gerontology Capstone

3 Credits

This course is a synthesis of the major ideas, perspectives, and concepts gained from the study of gerontology. A substantive paper is developed which requires students to critically analyze their experiences and integrate knowledge gained throughout the program.

MGT 370 International Supply Chain Management

3 Credits

Topics covered in this course include the government’s role in global logistics, the global logistics environment, ocean and air transportation, transportation to Canada, Mexico, and the European continent including intermediaries, documentation, insurance, exporting, and importing. Current trends in globalization will also be explored and evaluated. The role of logistics and transportation organizations in the global supply chain process will be discussed.

ECE 313 Collaboration with Parents & Community

3 Credits

Students will examine factors that promote effective communication and collaboration between early educators, families of children, and the community. In additional, learners will identify resources to foster these partnerships.

BUS 303 Human Resource Management

3 Credits

An introduction to the field of human resource management. Topics to be discussed include 
communication, motivation, and management of personnel. The course will include a review of current standards and practices as well as the legal environment as it pertains to the human resource field.

GRO 410 Death & Dying

3 Credits

This multi-disciplinary course offers an overview of psychosocial aspects of death and dying. Topics include attitudes toward death, preparation for death, care of terminally ill patients, funeral issues, mourning, grief practices, suicide, and euthanasia.

MGT 330 Management for Organizations

3 Credits

This course presents an introduction to management theory and practice, including the inter-relatedness that the planning, organizing, leading, and controlling functions play in the multicultural, technology-driven, and global organizations of the 21st century. The emphasis is on the application of management theory to real-life situations in the workplace. Please note, students who have successfully completed BUS 201 prior to 5/27/2025 will be waived from MGT 330.
