Military Tuition Assistance (TA)

If you are active duty, Reservist, or a member of the National Guard, you may be eligible to receive Tuition Assistance (TA). To determine your eligibility for TA, please contact your Education Service Officer (ESO) for details.

Note: If you are a Reservist or National Guard personnel, you should also seek any tuition assistance or reimbursement that your respective military employers may offer as this could lower your total out-of-pocket expenses.

U.S. Air Force

Air Force Tuition Assistance is offered to active-duty Airmen and Reserves on extended active duty. TA is paid up to $250 per credit hour for a total of $4,500 per fiscal year. TA must be requested 7 days prior to start (but not earlier than 45 days prior to start). TA is requested online using the Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC Portal).

U.S. Army

Members of the U.S. Army, including Army Reserve and Army National Guard on active duty, are eligible for TA for up to $250 per credit hour with a $4,000 cap per military fiscal year. TA must be requested 7 days prior to start (but not earlier than 60 days prior to start). TA requests must be approved before the start date of the class, without exception. All eligible soldiers will request TA through ArmyIgnitED.

Your ArmyIgnitED TA Approval Process

  1. Soldiers should establish a new ArmyIgnitED account at https://www.armyignited.army.mil/ using your Common Access Card (CAC) as well as enroll in a UAGC program.
  2. After reviewing and updating your ArmyIgnitED Profile, Soldiers will need to create an Education Goal and have it approved by your education counselor. An Evaluated Degree plan may be requested at this time but will be required before being able to submit a third TA request.
  3. Your Education Goal will be approved or denied by your Army education counselor.
  4. Only after your Education Goal is approved by your Army education counselor, will you be able to submit a tuition assistance request.
  5. Provide your approved TA Request forms to UAGC via the [email protected] inbox.

U.S. Coast Guard

Coast Guard Tuition Assistance (TA) is offered to active-duty Coast Guard and Reserve members affiliated with the Selected Reserve (SELRES). TA is authorized for up to $250 per credit hour for a total of $3,750 per fiscal year. TA must be requested 14 days prior to start (but not earlier than 90 days prior to start).

U.S. Marine Corps

Marine Corps Tuition Assistance (TA) is offered to active-duty Marines up to $250 per semester hour for a total of $4,500 per fiscal year. TA requests must be submitted and approved before the start date of the class, without exception.

U.S. Navy

Navy Tuition Assistance (TA) is offered to active-duty sailors and selected Reservists on active duty for 120 continuous days who have completed a minimum of two years of service (cannot be waived). TA is offered up to $250 per credit hour with a $3,000 (12-credit) cap per military fiscal year. TA must be requested at least 14 days prior to start date.
