Biography

Dr. Michelle Holliday serves as an Assistant Professor and Program Chair for the BA Social Science and BA Sociology programs in the College of Integrative Learning (COIL) at the University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC). They received their PhD in Sociology from Portland State University, Master’s in Public Health from Drexel University, and Bachelor's of Arts in Psychology from the University of Michigan. Their interdisciplinary background informs their teaching. Their research interests include education, education policy, social media, mental health, and gender and sexuality. By connecting research and theory to real-world challenges, they create courses that encourage critical thinking, curiosity, and meaningful career preparation.

Dr. Holliday strives to create inclusive and engaging learning environments, with a passion for supporting first-generation and non-traditional students. They enjoy helping students explore their unique career goals, develop transferable skills, and apply course concepts to workforce opportunities. In the online learning environment, Dr. Holliday believes every course should challenge students while allowing them to explore new learning strategies and personal strengths. Their goal is to inspire students to think broadly, collaborate effectively, and apply their knowledge in ways that make a tangible difference in their communities and careers.
