Biography

Dr. Denise Maxwell is a UAGC Professor and Assistant Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences with direct responsibility for the programs within the Department of Education and Liberal Arts. Her educational journey started with a BS in Special Education and Elementary Education from Oklahoma Central State University, MA in Educational Psychology from Ball State University, MA in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Colorado and earned an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Phoenix.

Dr. Maxwell has served as teacher, mentor, facilitator, staff developer, administrator in various Pre-K-12 public school settings, Academic Department Chair, Program Chair, Associate Dean, and Assistant Dean in higher education. Denise has a passion for teacher preparation and leadership development. A guiding principle that has directed Denise during her career is: the leader serves as a coach to empower others to be successful. Her consistent objective has been to shine brightly within her circle of influence.
