You’re invited to join a University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC) Sharing Time and Resources (S.T.A.R.) September 2026 movement! This year, September’s National Suicide Prevention Month theme is Stronger Together: Connect. Support. Prevent.

Suicide prevention is not one moment or one person's job. It lives in the relationships we build, the support we offer, and the communities we create together. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) selected this year's theme to highlight the importance of:

  • Strengthening connections that protect people before a crisis occurs

  • Making sure everyone knows where to turn and knows it before they need it

  • Building communities where people feel safe reaching out for help

  • Supporting recovery and healing long after a crisis has ended

When people feel connected, valued, and supported, they are more likely to seek help. And when communities come together around a shared commitment to prevention, lives are saved.

The UAGC S.T.A.R. Program and your Student Advocate HELPline (HELPline) team are joining these efforts and encourage you to do the same!

Take the initiative and get involved in a way that works for you, whether talking about suicide with your community or volunteering at a reputable charity, like the ones below.

UAGC Students: If you’re ever worried about your safety and well-being, or that of another student, remember your UAGC resources! Student Advocates with the Student Advocate HELPline (HELPline) are available to assist students who are experiencing extreme personal hardships and critical life impacts by providing non-clinical case management, brief supportive counseling, and assistance locating community resources. The HELPline operates Monday - Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. PT, excluding holidays. Submit an Online Care Report to get connected.
