Biography
Dr. Julie N. Adkins is an Associate Professor and Program Chair of the Master of Arts in Education (MAED) program housed in the Division of Educational Professions at the University of Arizona Global Campus. With more than twenty years of experience in K–12 and higher education, she focuses on instructional quality, faculty development, and student persistence in online learning environments.
Dr. Adkins earned her Ph.D. in Education with a specialization in Professional Studies from Capella University, where her research explored effective English language learning programs. She also earned an M.T. in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a B.A. in Economics with a minor in International Relations from the College of William and Mary.
Her leadership includes serving as principal investigator for The Writer’s Toolkit, a University Fellows Program grant project designed to enhance graduate students’ academic writing and retention through Adobe Express resources. Her scholarly work and conference presentations center on online pedagogy, academic writing, and social and emotional learning in adult and online education. Prior to her university roles, Dr. Adkins served as an elementary educator and mathematics instructional coach, experiences that continue to inform her commitment to fostering engagement, equity, and excellence in education.
