Biography

Dr. Deborah Carpenter is an Assistant Professor and Lead Faculty Support and Development in the Division of Education Professions at the University of Arizona Global Campus. She earned a Ph.D. in Education at the University of Arizona Global Campus, a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading and Language Arts from San Diego State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies at the University of California Riverside. Dr. Carpenter began her career in elementary education, teaching in Riverside Unified and Poway Unified School Districts in Southern California. Dr. Carpenter entered higher education in 2002 and has held numerous roles including University Representative (Senior Enrollment Advisor), Education Program Director, and Campus College Chair. Dr. Carpenter currently teaches undergraduate students in the Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies program and doctoral students in the Ph.D. in Education program. Dr. Carpenter’s research interests include faculty mentoring, mentee-driven dialogue, mentoring cohort groups, reciprocal interaction, and strategies that promote ownership of instructional improvement. In addition to teaching, Dr. Carpenter mentors and consults full-time faculty colleagues in the implementation of Instructional Quality Review, conferencing, and mentoring of new and veteran associate faculty.
