Biography

Dr. Christine McMahon is the Department Head for the Department of Health and Human Service Professions within the Health and Behavioral Professions division. Dr. McMahon came to UAGC in 2012 and previously served as a Program Chair for the Bachelor of Arts in Healthcare Administration program and the Health and Wellness Program. She was promoted to Professor at UAGC in 2023. Dr. McMahon holds a Doctorate Degree in Health Education from Andrew Taylor Still University of Health Sciences in Kirksville, Missouri. She earned both her Master of Science Degree in Exercise Science and Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology and Sports Studies from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois.

She is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC). Her professional background includes 15 years managing a cardiopulmonary rehabilitation department in a hospital setting prior to joining UAGC.

Dr. McMahon’s research interests include instructor presence in the online classroom and its impact on student engagement, retention, and learning outcomes as well as the importance of exercise on physical and mental health, with an emphasis on how consistent physical activity supports work–life balance and overall productivity in the workplace.
