HUM 6800 Fiscal Administration in Mental Health Care Systems

Credits

This course explores the common metrics mental health organizations use, the data used in support of those metrics, the assessment of fiscal outcomes, trends and events. Identifying cost centers and programs is considered. Students will evaluate differing funding streams that could potentially support the provision of mental health services including public funding, public insurance programs (e.g., Medicaid, Medicare), government and foundation grants, and private donations. Fundraising efforts as applied to an overall budget strategy will also be considered.

EDU 8261 Writing and Research in Education

3 Credits

This course provides students with an opportunity to utilize their academic research skills in doctoral writing opportunities for the Ph.D. in Education program. Students will develop effective search and writing strategies to create a brief scholarly review of the literature on their proposed dissertation topic. Students will focus on developing meaningful paragraphs to support their dissertation topic while simultaneously synthesizing research sources. Students will hone their research skills to utilize scholarly sources and critique studies' value to their research interests. Students will explore the variety of platforms and types of writing found in various educational contexts.

ACC 608 Financial Reporting in a Global Environment

3 Credits

In this course, students build upon their foundational knowledge of financial accounting to include the evaluation and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to more complex areas of financial reporting. An overview of topics covered include financial reporting and disclosures for the income statement, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows with special emphasis on revenue recognition, working capital, long-term assets including investments, amongst other topics. In addition to focusing on the reporting and accounting treatment under U.S. GAAP, students will learn about key differences and distinctions in requirements under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Prerequisites: BUS591 and BUS590.
