Reflecting on my own academic journey, I don’t remember those that were the smartest or the most credentialed. Those that made the lasting impression were those that cared and showed compassion and understanding. A Culture of Care is foundational for learning and helping our student achieve their goals.

Biography

Dr. Caleb Simmons is the Executive Director of Online Education overseeing Arizona Online, UArizona's online campus with over 9,500 students. He is also Professor of Religious Studies, and Faculty Director of the Interdisciplinary Studies Program. He specializes in digital and online learning and religion in South Asia, especially Hinduism. He has recently been named a Center for University Education Scholarship (CUES) Distinguished Fellow for his research on online pedagogy. He is the author of several book, including Devotional Sovereignty (Oxford Univ. Press, 2020) and Singing the Goddess into Place (SUNY Press, 2022).
