Biography
Bettyjo H. Bouchey, Ed.D. serves as Senior Vice Provost for Online Education at the University of Arizona, where she leads the university's enterprise online strategy and the integration of Arizona Online and the University of Arizona Global Campus.
A nationally recognized leader in online education, academic innovation, and digital transformation, Dr. Bouchey previously served as Chief Officer of Professional and Continuing Education at the University of Vermont (UVM). There, she led the development of the institution's online education enterprise while advancing online and hybrid degrees, workforce development, and lifelong learning in partnership with academic units across the university. Prior to Vermont, she served as the inaugural Vice Provost for Digital Strategy and Operations at National Louis University, overseeing online education, competency-based education, credit for prior learning, instructional design, and academic innovation.
A first-generation college student from rural Oregon, Dr. Bouchey is passionate about expanding educational opportunity through innovative learner pathways and transformative educational models. Her research and scholarship focus on the evolution of online education organizations, institutional transformation, and high-impact teaching and learning practices, including the application of artificial intelligence in higher education.
Dr. Bouchey holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University at Albany, an M.B.A. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a Doctor of Education from Northeastern University.
