Biography
Robert Shindell is an Assistant Professor and Lead Faculty member in the Department of People Management Professions at the University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC), where he supports undergraduate and graduate programs in Human Resource Management. For more than 25 years, his career has centered on developing people, leaders, and organizations through coaching, experiential education, and strategic learning initiatives. He has worked across corporate and higher education environments, partnering with senior leaders to design programs that strengthen talent pipelines, elevate leadership capability, and align individual growth with organizational needs. Throughout his work, he has been driven by a deep belief in the power of intentional development to unlock potential and create lasting impact.
His professional journey has included building and scaling leadership development strategies, advancing mentorship and sponsorship efforts, and fostering cultures rooted in coaching, feedback, and continuous improvement. He brings a systems-level perspective shaped by roles that span teaching, administration, and executive leadership, allowing him to translate complex challenges into practical, people-centered solutions.
Teaching has been a constant and deeply rewarding thread throughout his career. Since 2014, he has taught both online and in person at the graduate and undergraduate levels, blending real-world leadership practice with theory. Creating meaningful learning experiences and watching others grow into confident, capable leaders remains one of the most fulfilling aspects of his professional life.
He holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration with a focus on Organizational Behavior from Texas Tech University, a master's in training and development from Midwestern State University, and a bachelor's in education from the University of Toledo.
Originally from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, he now lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife, Christy; their two children, Jack, 15, and Charley, 11; and their Aussiedoodle, Dutch.
