Biography
Dr. Jamie Petrilla, who possesses EdD and MEd in Curriculum and Instruction and a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, was the first person in her family to graduate from college. Her mother was the first person in her family to graduate from high school as the villages where her grandparents lived prior to immigrating to the United States only offered formal education through the sixth grade. Consequently, she dedicated her dissertation and her career to helping students foster resilience so they can realize their academic and career goals.
Dr. Petrilla has taught students at all levels, from kindergarten through doctoral students. In addition to traditional classrooms, she has taught in jails, manufacturing sites, corporate settings, museum sites, and a World Heritage Site. She has taught college students online for more than 20 years and has served on several statewide taskforces promoting effective teaching practices, action research for educators, and STEM/STEAM education. She has earned a statewide Educator of Excellence Award and served as a peer reviewer for three professional journals. Dr. Petrilla is committed to providing engaging online course experiences.
