Biography
Professor James E. Bond is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Foundational Studies within the College of Integrated Learning at the University of Arizona Global Campus. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Education and is a U.S. Army veteran who served in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Suwon, Korea; Fort Stewart, Georgia; and Fort Bliss, Texas.
Professor Bond has spent more than fifteen years in higher education supporting military-affiliated and non-traditional learners across community college, nonprofit, for-profit, and Research I institutions. He served as the inaugural Director of the Student Veteran Resource Center at the University of California, San Diego, where he co-presented a congressional briefing on how the UC system supports veteran students. Earlier in his career, he secured a $330,000 FIPSE Center of Excellence Grant to establish a Veteran Center at National University and chaired the Ashford/UAGC Veteran Task Force, developing policies and ceremonies to enhance the experience of service members and their families.
Professor Bond’s work has created synergy through cross-departmental collaborations, including the distribution of Higher Education Emergency Relief Funds in partnership with Finance, the development of the new Student Orientation with Admissions, and initiatives supporting conduct, resolution, and student well-being through his Faculty Fellow research. His areas of interest include financial literacy, student success, leadership development, and online teaching innovation. He resides in San Diego, California, with his wife, Janka, and their cat, Freddie.
