Biography
Dr. Hwangji “Sherrie” Lu is the College of Professional Advancements Research Fellow and Core Faculty of the Master of Arts in Health Care Administration program. She holds a master’s in nutrition from North Dakota State University, a second master’s in health services administration from Central Michigan University, and a Ph.D. in management with a specialization in leadership and organizational change from Walden University.
Dr. Lu has over 20 years of professional experience in a wide variety of industries including real estate, restaurants, financial services, computer hardware, hospitals, dentistry, pharmaceuticals, managed behavioral care, the non-profit sector, and pharmacy retail stores. She has over 10 years of quality management experience in health care. She implemented Total Quality Management in an ISO-certified hospital and experienced in executing Quality Circles.
She has presented at three international conferences and published two to three articles in peer-reviewed journals every year since 2014. In addition to her active research agenda and extensive experience, she received the Distinguished Scholar award from the European Journal of Scientific Research and two Outstanding Reviewer Awards from the Academy of Management (AoM) Health Care Management Division. Additionally, Dr. Lu has served as a peer reviewer for several international conferences and peer-reviewed journals and is an advisory member for the International Institute of Engineers and Researchers, the International Society for Engineering Research and Development, the Universal Conferences Institute, the Institute of Research Engineers and Scientists, Academic Research Network, Conference Scientific Committee, World Conference on Social Science, and IRECONF Scientific Committee.
With her dedication and commitment to online learning, Dr. Lu has taught courses at several universities since 2006 and was named to the Provost's Circle at both Ashford University and Strayer University in recognition of her excellence in the online classroom. Because Dr Lu was once an online PhD student herself, she understands the needs of adult learners. “I help my students develop their self-confidence and necessary skills by offering useful tips, tools, and personal experiences. Each of my students is entitled to the best education possible.” Dr. Lu currently resides in Ashburn, VA. A well-traveled individual, she enjoys seeing many places, learning different cultures, and meeting people from various backgrounds.
