Financial Aid and Title IV Programs

The programs authorized under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965 are the major source of federal student aid, and the most common used by online students. Federal and state grants and loans fall under the banner of Title IV programs and are administered by the U.S. Department of Education.

Title IV funds include Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan, Direct Graduate PLUS Loan, Direct PLUS Loans, Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG), and the Federal Perkins Loan.

Fill out and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine your eligibility. There is no charge, and you do not have to be admitted to apply; however, you must be enrolled before your funds will be applied toward tuition and fee costs. You should apply as early as possible, even if you don’t plan to start until late in the year.

New students who have Financial Aid as a Primary payment option are expected to complete their core documents prior to their first course start date. Failure to submit required financial aid documents may result in the delay of a student’s start or administrative withdrawal from his or her current course. Students who are otherwise qualified may restart the program at a later date when all required financial aid documentation is submitted. If a student is unable to qualify for financial aid, he or she must select another payment option and is held responsible for any outstanding balances incurred.

Financial Aid Core Documents

  • Institutional Financial Aid Application
  • Entrance Loan Counseling
  • Master Promissory Note

After submitting all required documentation, it can take up to six weeks to process your financial aid. Please be advised that additional documents may be requested for verification purposes and submitting all verification documents in a timely manner will avoid delays in the financial aid packaging process. Students who are selected for the verification process must submit all required documentation within 30 days of request. Students who do not submit all requested documentation may be administratively withdrawn until all supporting documents have been received by the University’s Financial Aid Office.

Once your financial aid documents have been received, reviewed and processed by our processing department, you will be emailed an award letter with anticipated award amounts, and tentatively scheduled disbursement dates. You may need to pay any fees that apply before the start of your first course. To identify any outstanding fees, please speak with an advisor.
