BUS 307 Operations Management and Quantitative Techniques

3 Credits

Operations Management and Quantitative Techniques introduces students to the essential analytical methods used in modern business decision-making and operations. This course provides a practical survey of quantitative techniques commonly applied in business with a strong focus on developing operations management skills for real-world contexts. Students will explore foundational concepts of decision analysis and quantitative techniques while applying these tools to operational challenges. Emphasis is placed on building problem-solving skills, interpreting quantitative results, and applying data-driven insights to managerial decisions. Prerequisite: Fulfillment of Quantitative Reasoning requirement.

MGT 380 Leadership for Organizations

3 Credits

This course provides an in-depth exploration of leadership as a dynamic, ethical, and strategic practice within organizations. Students will analyze the principles of leadership across persons, processes, and systems. The course emphasizes ethical leadership, corporate social responsibility, and the development of high-performing organizational cultures. Students will examine theories of organizational behavior and followership, cultivate strategies for leading teams, and foster resilience through effective communication and persuasion techniques. Key topics include the strategic creation and implementation of leadership initiatives, the navigation of organizational power, politics, and conflict, and leading transformational change using evidence-based models. Special attention is given to cultivating openness, ethical influence, innovation, and adaptability in response to emerging technologies and global challenges. By the end of the course, students will be prepared to lead ethically and strategically across complex and evolving organizational landscapes.  Prerequisite: BUS 119 for the BA Business Leadership and BA Organizational Management programs.   

ECE 315 Language Development in Young Children

3 Credits

This course offers an examination of language development in children from birth to age eight, emphasizing the integration of research-based strategies to support early language and literacy skills. Special focus is placed on creating developmentally appropriate, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environments that nurture both typical and atypical language learners. Students will explore methods for supporting dual language learners and collaborate with diverse families to promote strong language foundations.

GRO 497 Gerontology Capstone

3 Credits

This course is a synthesis of the major ideas, perspectives, and concepts gained from the study of gerontology. A substantive paper is developed which requires students to critically analyze their experiences and integrate knowledge gained throughout the program.

MGT 370 International Supply Chain Management

3 Credits

In this course, students evaluate international supply chain management within a global logistics and trade environment. Students investigate transportation networks, regulatory and geopolitical influences, and the roles of intermediaries, documentation, insurance, and compliance in cross-border operations. Learners will develop strategies for managing global inventory, mitigating risk, and building resilient supplier partnerships across diverse cultural and regulatory settings. The course emphasizes the strategic role of logistics and transportation organizations in optimizing global supply chain performance. 

BUS 303 Human Resource Management

3 Credits

An introduction to the field of human resource management. Topics to be discussed include 
communication, motivation, and management of personnel. The course will include a review of current standards and practices as well as the legal environment as it pertains to the human resource field.

GRO 410 Death and Dying

3 Credits

This multi-disciplinary course offers an overview of psychosocial aspects of death and dying. Topics include attitudes toward death, preparation for death, care of terminally ill patients, funeral issues, mourning, grief practices, suicide, and euthanasia.

MGT 330 Management for Organizations

3 Credits

This course presents an introduction to management theory and practice, including the inter-relatedness that the planning, organizing, leading, and controlling functions play in the multicultural, technology-driven, and global organizations of the 21st century. The emphasis is on the application of management theory to real-life situations in the workplace. Please note, students who have successfully completed BUS 201 prior to 5/27/2025 will be waived from MGT 330.

ECE 312 Administration of Early Childhood Education Programs

3 Credits

This course will provide students with a solid foundation of the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed by leaders in the field of early childhood education. The various diverse expectations, responsibilities, and duties of a leader in a high-quality early childhood education program will be explored.  The course will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the role of the early childhood educator leader in leading a quality early childhood education program. 

EDU 358 Assessment of Student Learning

3 Credits

Students will learn to identify the differences in formative and summative evaluation data and design online learning scenarios to address both of these. The effectiveness of e-learning will be explored through research. The philosophy, use and development of grading rubrics for assignments will be explored. Issues of plagiarism and cheating in e-learning will also be examined. Prerequisites: EDU 120 and EDU 232.
