A commencement ceremony is a time for celebrating accomplishments. With it comes a number of traditions that have emerged as a way to commemorate this special occasion. One of these traditions is the ever-so-popular cap decorating.
This year, we'll be celebrating our 2020 graduates with Ashford's* first-ever virtual commencement, and one of the ways we encourage our grads to get into the spirit is to decorate your caps at home.
In honor of the Class of 2020, we’ve put together a list of 20 amazing cap decorating examples that cover just about any topic you can think of to get your creative juices flowing.
It's been an interesting year, but with the challenges come amazing things, like celebrating your accomplishments and earning your degree.
2. AU Pride:
Show your love for Ashford* and get creative with our official colors.
It takes determination to go after what you want. Let others know they can do it too!
If there’s one thing people can take away from your big achievement, it’s inspiration. Use this opportunity to say a few words to motivate others.
5. Home Sweet Home:
Represent the city you live in and love.
6. Simple and Elegant:
Smart is beautiful, and your cap can be, too.
For some, earning a degree takes much longer than they anticipated, which makes the victory even sweeter.
8. Thank the Family:
So many Ashford graduates say they earned a college degree for their family, and honoring yours on your cap is a great way to express this gratitude and emotion.
Where you come from is as equally important as where you will go next, and acknowledging your history is an important aspect of what your future holds.
10. Your Favorite Movie:
Why not have a little fun and use your favorite movie to express your excitement over graduating?
11. Your Degree:
You chose your degree for a reason, and now it’s time to celebrate earning it.
12. Pun Fun:
Sometimes simple is better, but just make it clever!
13. Parent Life:
You juggled a lot to earn your degree, and it’s totally fine to brag about it!
14. Author Inspired:
Whether you love Dr. Seuss or Socrates, pick a quote that best expresses your triumphant story.
A popular song can make for a great play on words.
At some point in time there is a good chance you called on a higher power to help you through some of the challenges you faced while earning your degree. Whatever your faith, your cap is a great place to share gratitude.
They say laughter is the best medicine. Why not make a few people laugh at commencement!
Not feeling the creative route? Stick with a classic decoration.
Why should the kids have all the fun? After all, when you wish upon a star . . .
If someone you love was not able to celebrate with you, keep them in your thoughts by honoring them on your cap.
