Shannon Harris, PhD(c), RHIA

Shannon Harris joined the University of Arizona Global Campus in March 2023 as full-time faculty for the Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management program in the Department of Health Sciences. She will be completing her PhD in Health Services with a Health Administration focus from Walden University in the Summer of 2023. Her dissertation is titled: Organizational Factors of Emergency Room Fast-Track Admission Duplicate Data Entry Errors in an Alabama Health System. She holds a Master of Business Administration with a Healthcare Management focus from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Shannon is RHIA credentialed and has over 15 years of experience in the HIM industry and 4 years of adjunct faculty experience. She is active in the national, state, and local HIM associations and was recently elected to serve as 1st year director for the Alabama HIM Association 2023-2024 board year. Shannon resides with her family in Birmingham, AL.
