Biography
Dr. Chris Sorensen serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Education and Liberal Arts within the College of Arts & Sciences. He earned his PhD from University of South Florida (USF) in the area of Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Instructional Technology. Prior to earning his PhD, Dr. Sorensen earned his BS in Biology from USF and his MA in Teaching from Florida Southern College. Dr. Sorensen began his career as a high school science teacher in 2005 and has been involved in higher education since 2011. In addition to teaching courses at the University of Arizona Global Campus, he is actively involved in course design and program development. He believes that technology has the ability to engage learners, making them more active participants in the teaching and learning process. Dr. Sorensen also maintains that all individuals have the ability to learn and that learning is a lifelong process. He says, “One of my favorite things about being in the field of education is helping others to acquire new knowledge and skills.” Dr. Sorensen currently lives in Tampa, Florida, and enjoys playing tennis, practicing yoga, cooking, traveling, and visiting the Disney theme parks.
