Biography

For Daniel Ossewaarde, pursuing a college degree was a no-brainer. A high achiever since childhood, he started taking college courses at 15 years old and graduated from high school early with his sights on set on a university that would help him reach his full potential. 

UAGC offered him that opportunity when he began to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Business Information Systems.

Biography

Cheli Vasquez is hungry. As a paraprofessional working in the Texas public school system, she’s had a taste of what life is like inside the classroom. Originally, her goal was to become a school nurse, yet, despite having her nursing license, she wasn’t able to find an open position. Instead she accepted a role in a life skills classroom working with students who have unique medical needs. 

“It was challenging at first, but I quickly fell in love with the challenge!” Cheli says.

When he was 16 years old, School of Business and Technology faculty member Michael Hayden built and raced a blown gas jet boat that went nine miles faster per hour than anyone had ever gone. It’s a world record that remains unbroken to this day.

“We designed the motor and built the manifold,” he explains. “It was a 572 cubic-inch gas engine that was about 1600 horsepower. It was extremely fast!”
