ECE 355 Understanding Behavior and Family Dynamics

3 Credits

This course will explore the multifaceted dynamics of childhood development within the context of diverse family structures. Students will delve into key theories of family systems, attachment, and child development, examining how these theories impact children's social, emotional, and behavioral well-being. The course will emphasize the importance of building strong, respectful, and collaborative partnerships with families. Students will learn strategies for effective communication and culturally sensitive family engagement. Furthermore, the course will equip students with the knowledge and skills to assess children's developmental needs and explore evidence-based practices for promoting positive behavior.

BUS 330 Principles of Marketing

3 Credits

This course examines the evolution of the marketing philosophy. Subject matter expands on the steps marketers take to understand the customers, determine their needs and wants, and develop a marketing plan. In addition, an examination of external and internal environments impacting marketing decisions, the elements of a marketing program, and issues in ethics and social responsibility are discussed. (Equivalent to MGT 350).

MGT 496 Strategic Warehouse Management

3 Credits

This course offers a detailed exploration of modern warehouse management principles, emphasizing the competitive landscape, technological advancements, and operational efficiency in a global context. Students will learn about key topics such as warehouse design (government and non-government), inventory management, order fulfillment, automation, safety compliance, risk management, sustainability, and productivity improvement. Prerequisites: MGT 330 and successful completion of the General Education Capstone course. MGT 496 is the capstone course for the BA in Supply Chain Management program and must be taken last in the sequence. This course is not available for non-degree seeking students.

ELL 353 Reading & Writing in a Second Language

3 Credits

The relationship between first and second language comprehension as well as the reading comprehension and writing connection will be explored in this course. The use of differentiated literacy instruction for English Language Learners will be the central focus.

MGT 492 Strategic Management for the Multinational Enterprise Capstone

3 Credits

The final integrative course in the international business program integrates the basic business functions through strategic management principles. Comprehensive cases deal with global competition in complex changing environments within which the organization seeks to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. Issues of strategy formulation and implementation are addressed. Prerequisites: GEN 499. This course must be taken last in the program. 

EDU 381 Curriculum & Instructional Design

3 Credits

Curriculum and Instructional Design is a comprehensive course that delves into the intricate interplay between content standards, curriculum design, lesson planning, and instructional models, with a primary focus on enhancing student achievement and ensuring equitable access to mastery for all learners. This course provides educators, instructional designers, and curriculum developers with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the complex relationship between content standards and effective instructional practices. Students will engage in practical lesson planning activities and collaborative discussions to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios. By the end of the course, students will be equipped with the tools and insights needed to design and implement instruction that not only meets content standards but also fosters an equitable and inclusive learning environment, ultimately leading to increased student achievement for all.

MGT 490 Strategic Human Resources Planning

3 Credits

This course provides a link between the traditional human resources functions (recruiting, staffing, training, performance appraisals, labor relations, and compensation and benefits), strategic planning, and meeting long-range organizational goals and objectives. Prerequisites: GEN 499. This course must be taken last in the program. 

MAT 540 Statistical Concepts for Research

3 Credits

This course demonstrates how to apply selected statistical techniques to a wide variety of problems and situations arising in the areas of business, economics, finance, management, social science, health, psychology, and education. Topics include graphical description of data; measures of location and dispersion; probability; discrete and continuous random variables; sampling distributions and estimation; confidence intervals and hypothesis tests; simple linear regression and correlation.

MGT 460 Leadership Priorities & Practice

3 Credits

Leadership Priorities and Practice is a capstone course that requires students to reflect on and synthesize the major insights gained in their study of business leadership. A substantive paper is developed to illustrate how these insights can be applied effectively in the students’ work environment. Students will demonstrate their knowledge integrating insights from each academic area in their synthesis and application of leadership principles and practices. Prerequisite: Successful completion of the General Education Capstone course. MGT 460 is the capstone course for the BA in Business Leadership program and must be taken last in the sequence. This course is not available for non-degree seeking students.

BUS 318 Organizational Behavior

3 Credits

This course is designed to develop the student’s skills in the understanding of factors that affect how individuals and groups act and interact with one another and with management. It also looks at how organizations manage their internal environment with the aim of improving productivity, efficiency, and communications among members. Prerequisite: BUS 201 or MGT 330.
