Lead Faculty - Assistant Professor
Dr. Peggy Sundstrom has been a faculty member first with the University of the Rockies, then Ashford University, and now with the University of Arizona Global Campus since 2009. She is the Lead Faculty for the doctoral program in Organizational Development and Leadership within the Forbes School of Business & Technology and teaches courses in leadership and management and doctoral research planning. She also facilitates In-Residence workshops and mentors doctoral students completing their dissertation or Applied Doctoral Project. During her academic career with the University of the Rockies, Peggy served as Chair of the Academic Standards Committee and a member of the Academic Dispute Resolutions Committee, the Academic Senate, and the Doctoral Research Project Taskforce. At University of Arizona Global Campus, Peggy has served on the Academic Senate, the Doctoral Curriculum Committee, and, most recently, the Doctoral Advisory Committee. She coordinates the university's Research Symposium which provides a forum to showcase student research, as well as the Doctoral Research Poster session in conjunction with commencement.
In addition to being a full-time faculty member, Dr. Sundstrom is a management consultant to organizations and individuals experiencing transition and change. She specializes in strategy and planning, change management, and employee growth and development. Prior to beginning her management consulting practice, Dr. Sundstrom held various professional and management positions in academic administration and healthcare over a twenty-year period. Her years of experience in both corporate staff and divisional leadership roles contribute to her expertise and understanding of organizational behavior and leadership. Dr. Sundstrom is noted as a developer and presenter of business training curriculum and is a professional member of the National Speakers Association.
In 2007, Dr. Sundstrom was named one of Colorado’s “Outstanding Women in Business” by the Denver Business Journal. She was also honored with this distinction in 2003. In 2006, Dr. Sundstrom was named the “Women in Business Champion of the Year” by both the Colorado District Office and Region VIII of the U.S. Small Business Administration. In 2009, she was part of a team that won a national award for volunteerism from the Life Care Centers of America for animal-assisted therapy with nursing home residents. Peggy serves as a Board member of Ducks Unlimited de Mexico, as the coordinator of DU Rising, a mentoring program for young conservation leaders, and on the coordinating committee for a national scholarship program to support graduating high school students interested in a career in conservation. She is an active volunteer for Guides Dogs for the Blind and has been honored as “Hero of the Year” three years running by Bridgepoint Education.
